April 2022 — Prof Tommie Meyer, co-director of AIRU and leader of the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning group at the University of Cape Town, has been awarded an A rating by the National Research Foundation (NRF). He joins a group of only three Computer Scientists ever to have been awarded an NRF A rating. Tommie is recognised internationally as an expert in knowledge representation and reasoning, a subarea of artificial intelligence, focusing on belief revision and non-monotonic reasoning (NMR), as well as their application to description logics (DL).
